13th Annual Governor's Environmental Excellence Awards

2008 Governor's Environmental Excellence Awards Logo

The Governor's Environmental Excellence Awards are supported by Virginia's Governor, the Secretary of Natural Resources, the Department of Environmental Quality, the Department of Conservation and Recreation and other partner organizations. There are three categories of awards: Environmental Project, Environmental Program and Land Conservation. Awards are given to business and industrial facilities, government agencies and individuals. Since inception of the Governor's Environmental Excellence Award program in 1995, the Virginia Manufacturers Association (VMA) has facilitated the award process each year. VMA's Environmental Outreach Group is proud to underwrite the costs of the award process.

The judges for this program have been selected from business, universities, government, and the community. These judges review each application and evaluate it against specific criteria. Applicants may receive gold, silver and bronze recognition.

Applications are now available for 2008. The deadline for completion of the application is January 11, 2008, at 5 p.m. The awards ceremony will take place on April 2, 2008, at the 19th annual Environment Virginia Symposium in Lexington. Finalists will be notified several weeks before the ceremony.
